Two finger scrolling

February 13th, 2007

I am not sure what it is called, but the ability, on my Macbook Pro, to use two fingers on the touchpad to do things like scrolling just makes so much sense. The only problem I have with it is that when I start using a PC, I find myself trying to scroll with two fingers. It just makes so much sense and, in terms of muscle memory, is incredibly easy to pick up and remember. I also find that even when I have a mouse attached, I still end up scrolling with two fingers instead of using the mouse wheel. When it comes to design and usability, Apple gets it right.

You’d be surprised how many windows laptops have this feature but it’s not turned on as default. Often you run your finer up and down the far right of the touch pad to achieve the same

The finger on the right side it’s not even close to apple’s two-finger scrolling. I got used to it so easily that I am looking up internet if there is a way to get a software do same thing for PC. I have a mac as personal laptop that my girlfriend uses and a PC at work. I ALWAYS end up trying to scroll with two fingers on my PC.
All I can say .. this is a VERY good feature on the mac.

I agree with Marius. The side scrolling is nothing like the two finger scroll. Even as I read this blog, I find myself trying to two finger scroll with my windows machine. I would really like to find a driver to support such a feature in windows.

Yep, the side scrolling just doesn’t measure up. I have found a solution for windows; run it under Parallels on a Mac ;-) .
