Make your own South Park character

Published by Chris Johnston on March 23, 2005 10:12 am under Flash

I found a very cool little flash application via a link on the RocketBoots website. It is a South Park Studio that lets you create your own character. The app is very simple to use and a lot of fun as well. The only down side to it is that the only way to retain your character is to take a screenshot. There is no way to either save your creation on the site itself or to have a jpg emailed to you.

Here is my little creation:

    You have to take a screenshot and from that create a jpg of your character. If you are on Windows, take a screen capture by clicking on the Print Screen key. This way place a copy a screen capture onto the clipboard for you. You then need to open some kind of image editing software like Photoshop, Fireworks, The GIMP, etc and paste the image into the software. From there you can produce a jpg.

    So. . . how exactly do you take a screen shot again?

    How to take a screen shot on Windows 98, 2000, XP

    * Make sure you can see your character on the screen
    * Press the PrtScn key on your keyboard — should in the top right corner
    * Open your favorite graphics program
    * create a new document
    * Make sure the size of the document matches your screen resolution, i.e., 1280×1024 if you have a 17 or 19 inch LCD monitor
    * Go to the Edit menu and select Paste
    * Save your document, or edit it however you would like

    Now you should have a nice little screenshot of your South Park character.

    what if i dont have a printer, can i save a character then
    ?

  10. fuzzylizard on September 20th, 2005

    Yes of course you can. Once you have the screen capture in your graphics program you save the file however you want. The PrtScn (Print Screen) key does not actually print what is one your screen to your printer. It simply captures what is on the screen to memory. What you do with that image, once it is in memory, is up to you.
