The morning after…

October 24th, 2004

The damage has been done, now all I can do is to live with the consequences and pick up the broken pieces. And I already notice a few broken pieces, or better, a few pieces of the old site that I need to hack into the new one. Probably the biggest of these is the link counter. I really liked being able to see how many people had clicked on each link and which links where the most popular. Time to get out the php tools and get to work. At least I am starting with a stable base on which to build.

One feature that is really cool about WordPress is their little “Link This” bookmarklet. You drag it to your bookmark bar and when you click it, while on some site somewhere, it will bring up a window containing the form for adding links. This provides a very quick and easy method for adding links to the site.

WordPress has another bookmarklet that, when on a site, allows you to bring up the blog form. This allows you to write about that site very easily and very quickly.

I realize now that I am going to have to create a site around WordPress. Very cool software, but only one part of what I would like the site to be. At a minimum, I don’t like the way that the links are handled; I am going to have to change that. I want a page that lists all of the links instead of them being displayed down the one side of the page.

Anyway, sometimes you need to destroy before you can rebuild.

Looks good, Chris. Oh, wow, what happened when I started typing in this box it expanded to the edge and beyond. Kinky. ;)

    Thanks for the feedback, Michelle

I guess I gotta take another look at the style sheet. Seems to only mess up in IE (what else is new). Works fine in firefox.
